Rome Revisited with Thomas Bjorn

Arrive in the Eternal City and transfer to the Rome Cavalieri Waldorf Astoria, official hotel of the 2023 Ryder Cup teams. After check-in, settle into your panoramic room overlooking the city, then enjoy complimentary access to the outdoor pools and sun loungers at your leisure.

As the sun begins to set, gather on the terrace for a prosecco reception, meet your hosts, and take in your first breathtaking views of St Peter’s Dome. The evening concludes with a four-course welcome dinner in the hotel’s signature restaurant, paired with sommelier-selected Italian wines — an elegant beginning to five indulgent nights in Rome.

Play Parco di Roma Golf Club at 10:30 am, navigating its pine-lined fairways and rolling lakeside terrain with shared electric carts. After golf and a light clubhouse lunch, return to change for a 6pm private walking tour: Palatine Hill, Colosseum exteriors, Roman Forum, Capitoline Hill, Piazza Venezia, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and Piazza Navona - all at an unhurried pace with time for photos. Conclude in Trastevere for dinner at the famed Alfredo alla Scrofa, the birthplace of fettuccine Alfredo, enjoying classic Roman dishes and regional wines.

Today Thomas joins the group. After breakfast, tee off at 10:30 am on Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, spectacular stage of the 2023 Ryder Cup. Play from the elevated tees framed by castle ruins and distant city views while sharing stories of recent Ryder Cup drama.  Light lunch with drinks at the clubhouse. Return mid-afternoon to the hotel for spa time, a dip in the pools, or a cocktail on the Terrazza degli Aranci. In the evening we will have a relaxed dinner together with Thomas.

Relax over breakfast, then together with Thomas drive into the Alban Hills for a guided visit to Santa Benedetta Winery, the oldest vineyard of the Castelli Romani and a cherished destination during the 2023 Ryder Cup—where the wives and girlfriends of the competing players gathered to experience the magic of these ancient Roman vineyards. Stroll the estate's olive groves, sample DOC wines, and join a hands-on cooking class preparing homemade pasta and seasonal dishes for a leisurely vineyard lunch. Return to Rome late afternoon; enjoy a sunset aperitivo followed by dinner at leisure at a neighbourhood osteria.

Today Thomas will be with us throughout the day and for dinner. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before your 10:30 am tee time for a second round at Marco Simone, giving you a chance to tame its match-play finishes.  Light lunch with drinks at the clubhouse. Afternoon free for spa indulgence or last-minute shopping along Via Condotti. At 7 pm gather in the hotel's elegant private dining room, Sala dei Cesari, set as an imperial table. A four-course farewell menu - seasonal antipasti, handmade pasta, prime lamb or fish, and a signature dolce - paired with curated regional wines. Toast new friendships and an unforgettable Roman golfing adventure.

Savour a final breakfast overlooking the city skyline, then check out. Private transfers whisk you to Fiumicino or Ciampino Airport, departing with memories of championship golf, timeless history, fine cuisine, and la dolce vita in the Eternal City.
